Dr. Jacob P.
Rayapati
has a Masters
Degree in English Language and Literature from Andhra
University, India; a Masters Degree in English Philology
from the University of Pennsylvania; a Masters Degree in
Teaching English as a Second Language from West Chester
University; and a Ph. D. in American Literature from the
University of Pennsylvania. His book Early American
Interest in Vedanta (1973) received positive
evaluations around the world for defining several Hindu
concepts and their use by New England Transcendentalists. He
speaks and understands about 13 languages including Lenape,
Cherokee, and Ojibwe. He taught English as a Second Language
in China, India, and Kuwait. He has been at Cheyney
University of Pennsylvania from August 1970 to May 31, 2005.
He now lives in Moline, IL to be close to his children and
grand-children.
“Native Heritage
in Lenape Place Names” is the title of his latest research
paper which he presented at the EAPSU conference on February
20, 2004. His curriculum Vita lists many of his published
papers.
